The credit union came into being on October 11, 1955. Membership was limited to ministers,
family members and churches of the North Iowa Conference. Our By-Laws have changed over the years
to include other groups in our field of membership. In 1985 we opened a small branch office at Iowa
Methodist Medical Center, in 1993 we moved to a larger office and in 1998 moved to our current
location, 1212 Pleasant St, Ste 106, Des Moines. In the spring of 1999 we sold the Ames property,
closed that office our moved all our operations to the Des Moines location.
When the credit union was first formed we had only shares and loans. We now offer a full range of
financial products and services including mortgages and Internet home banking. We have members across
the US and internationally, and our assets continue to grow, we are now at 27 million.
The credit union, unlike many financial institutions, is a not-for-profit organization. This means
that are earnings are used to provide low cost/no cost financial services to you our MEMBER-OWNERS.
Our board of directors is elected from the membership and serves as unpaid volunteers. We are committed
to providing the excellent products and services to our members.
